Bites on your skin or ink spots on bedding

If your family are experiencing insect bites then it could be fleas, bedbugs, mites or mosquitoes.

Bites on the lower leg could be caused by fleas, whereas upper body bites are more likely to be bed bugs, mites or mosquitoes.

Blood stains or dark ink spots on pillows or other bedding could be caused by bed bugs.  If a bedbug has fed recently but then crushed by your body then they will leave a bloody stain on your sheets or pillowcase.

Tiny dark marks on bedclothes could be bedbug droppings.  They look like ink spots and can be found on your mattress and bedframe too.

If you think you have bedbugs or members of your family have bites or itching then call our expert pest control team any time using the number below.

Holes in wood and timbers

If you find small circular holes in timbers then you are likely to have woodworm.   Small holes are roughly 2mm in diameter.

Larger holes of around 4mm in diameter could be caused by deathwatch beetles.  You may also notice a network of tunnels or a fine, powdery dust near exit holes.

Woodworm and deathwatch beetles bore their way through wood and this can cause serious structural damage to your property if it is not treated.

If you find holes in woodwork or timbers then our experts can survey your property and advise what treatment plan is necessary.

Damaged electrical wiring, wood or pipes

Rats and mice love chewing on things in your home because they need to gnaw to stop their teeth from growing too big.

They will chew on anything close by, so if they’re hiding under your floorboards or in your loft then there will be electric cables, wiring, water pipes or other materials.  They will gnaw on wood, plastic, rubber, glass or anything to control the growth of their teeth.

Rats, mice and squirrels also love chewing and shredding paper so if you see evidence of this then it’s likely you have rodents around the house.

If you notice damage to wires or anything else then get in touch with us to investigate how any mice, rats or squirrels could have got in.  We can help remove them humanely and prevent them coming in again.

Damaged or contaminated food

If you notice food missing, damaged or contaminated then you could have a mouse or rat problem.  Rodents love bread, but also fruit, seeds and nuts.  They may even steal your pet food too if they can.

You may also notice droppings nearby, which is a sure sign of a pest problem.

As mice are smaller than rats they will less, so even smaller chunks of bread missing could mean you have unwanted visitors in your home.

If you notice damaged or missing food then call our expert pest controllers today.  You can contact us at any time using the number below.

Bare patches and pupal cases on carpets

If you spot damage or bare patches on your carpet, or other fabrics such as upholstery and rugs, then you may have a carpet beetle or carpet moth infestation.

Carpet beetles shed their skin regularly too so you might notice this, or larvae pupal cases on the floor, as well as tiny dark pellet droppings around the size of a grain of salt.

You may see live or dead grubs and other insects too, and they may be climbing the walls trying to get to windows and visible as tiny dots.

If you have carpet moths then you might see loose fibres, with no apparent reason.  You might even spot tiny caterpillars crawling under your carpet or miniature cocoons which blend in.

If you experience any of these then call our team today.  Our helpline is available 24/7 and you’ll speak to a real person who can put you in touch with one of our pest control experts.

Burrows, tracking and soil mounds

If you find burrows, tracking or soil mounds in your garden then you could have moles, rabbits, rats or mice there.

Moles can cause significant damage to lawns, golf courses and sports fields.  They are constantly digging, and can dig up to 4m per hour.  Mole tunnels can destroy the roots of plants and trees, and expose debris and stones which can damage lawnmowers and other machinery.

Rats and rabbits create underground burrows and paths from their nest to food sources.  They can be found beneath hedges and other vegetation, and you may spot droppings in areas where they feed.

Mice can be a nuisance in gardens when they feed on plants and fruit, ruining months of tender loving cultivation.

Call our friendly UK pest control team today if pests are causing a nuisance in your garden.
